Medical Treatment

Sometimes eye and vision problems do not present obvious signs or symptoms, causing you to not know when a problem exists. To help prevent vision loss it is important to seek early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision conditions.

Foreign Body Removal

A foreign body or object in the eye is something that entered the eye from outside the body. Some types of foreign bodies can cause minor scratches and injuries while others can cause infection and damage your vision. With special techniques our doctors can remove these unwanted objects. Trying to remove a foreign body on your own could cause serious eye damage. If you have a foreign body in your eye it is important to seek immediate emergency treatment.

Special Testing

Our retinal camera allows us to take detailed photographs of the inside of your eyes to help assess the health of your retina as well as detect and manage eye/health conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Our visual field machine allows us to measure your entire scope of vision to help detect blind spots or other visual abnormalities. Visual field tests are frequently used to detect signs of glaucoma damage to the optic nerve.

Cataract Evaluations

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens which lies behind the iris and the pupil. During an examination, our doctors will determine if a cataract is present in one or both of your eyes and the effect it may be having on your vision.

Glaucoma Evaluations

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the eye's optic nerve that can lead to vision loss and blindness. Early detection and treatment is important in protecting the eyes against serious vision loss. During a glaucoma evaluation our doctors will check the pressure in your eyes (tonometry) and evaluate for optic nerve damage by looking at the back of your eye. A visual field test may also be performed to check the peripheral or side vision of each eye. In some instances additional photographs may be taken to better evaluate the optic nerve.

Lasik Evaluations

LASIK is a type of refractive surgery that corrects myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. If you are interested in this option for visual correction, our doctors will be able to determine if your visual conditions would make you a good candidate for the procedure, as well as provide recommendations and other information regarding this process.

Eye Infection Treatments

Eye infections can cause eye discomfort in many ways and can affect any part of the eye. Pink eye, a common eye infection, is an irritation or inflammation of the conjunctiva, which covers the white part of the eye. It can be caused by allergies, or bacterial or viral infections. Sometimes they resolve with minimal or no treatment while others will require some type of medication for treatment. Not all eye infections are dangerous, but some require immediate attention. If you feel you may have an eye infection, please contact our office immediately.

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry Eye occurs when the tear glands are unable to produce enough tears to keep the eyes moist. This makes the eyes unable to get rid of dust and other irritants causing stinging, burning, and eye redness. Our doctors can evaluate your eyes to see if you are suffering from dry eyes and determine appropriate options to help alleviate the symptoms. This may include artificial tears, other eye drops or punctal plugs.
