Dr. David Dawson, O.D. and Dr. Michelle Dawson, O.D. opened Tallmadge Family Eye Care in 2008 with the goal of providing custom care that focused on individual needs. Whenever anyone walks into TFEC, Dr. David and Dr. Michelle hope that they feel like they are part of a family.
Both doctors specialize in comprehensive eye health and will thoroughly examine a patient’s eyes while keeping in mind their overall health, complaints, and any other issues. An eye exam at TFEC is much more than just getting a prescription or contact lenses; it often will involve a thorough evaluation and follow up with a primary care physician.

David J. Dawson, O.D.
Dr. David J. Dawson completed his undergraduate studies at the Ohio State University from 1990 to 1993. He was admitted early into the Ohio State University College of Optometry, after completing only three years of prerequisite work. While performing his clinical responsibilities, he completed a twelve week externship program at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1997.
Upon graduating, Dr. Dave began practicing optometry in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Additionally, he began working part-time for the Ohio State University College of Optometry as a clinical instructor. In 2004, he was hired as a full-time clinical faculty member of the College of Optometry. In his position as Coordinator of the Primary Vision Care Clinic, he supervised the instruction of multiple optometry students. Among his responsibilities were providing students with clinically relevant and current medical knowledge, as well as rendering care in an educational setting.
In his spare time, Dr. Dave enjoys spending time with family and gem cutting (faceting).
Michelle E. Dawson, O.D.
Dr. Michelle E. Dawson attended Ohio Northern University, where she graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. While performing her clinical responsibilities, she completed a twelve week externship program at the Akron Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2006. She was recognized for her outstanding patient care during her ocular disease rotation, by being awarded the Odyssey Ocular Disease Award.
Upon graduating, Dr. Michelle began practicing optometry in Brunswick, Ohio. Dr. Michelle and Dr. Dave, were married in September of 2006. They opened Tallmadge Family Eye Care together in April 2008. In March of 2011, they welcomed their daughter, Lexie, into their lives. They were joined in November of 2014 by their son, Bryce. The Dawson family currently resides in Wadsworth, Ohio.
In her spare time, Dr. Michelle enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
